SQUASH CAMP
a sport specialty option at Campus Kids-New Jersey
June 25-July 6, 2012
Information for our 2013 Squash Camp will be posted in September.

Campus Kids-NJ offers a specialty option for campers who want to concentrate on learning squash skills and strategies while also enjoying the fun and friends of traditional sleep-away camp.

Our camp is located on the campus of Blair Academy where we utilize the modern 7-court squash center (air conditioned).  Campers who are enrolled at our weekday sleep-away camp and are entering 7th grade or older are eligible to select this Squash Specialty Option at no additional cost.

The program allows campers to concentrate on the sport while also providing time to participate in other camp activities.  Campers are members of regular bunk groups, living with their camper friends and counselors, eating meals together and enjoying evening programs and special events.

For about half of each program day, campers participate in squash skill instruction and practice at one of two levels.  One is for athletes advanced in squash who want continued, concentrated skill advancement.  The other track is for campers familiar with the sport but without much formal training or match play experience.  Many campers will have the goal of improving their performance on school teams or working up the confidence and skill level to be able to try out for a team.  The Squash Specialty will focus on teaching campers proper grips and footwork to improve their swing, as well as proper spacing techniques to improve their game.  This Squash Specialty program will maintain the philosophy of Campus Kids in which every camper is included at all times.

For the other part of each day, campers choose their own activities in the areas of sport, swimming, fine arts and performing arts.  This provides a good balance over the two weeks between the sport concentration and more general camp activities.

Ryan Belline, long time CK-NJ staff member, coordinates our sport specialty programs to help insure high quality, while also maintaining our high safety standards, the fun spirit of Campus Kids and our commitment to individual attention.  He will be working with our counselor squash specialists along with some guest coaching.

IS THIS JUST LIKE OUR NORMAL SQUASH ACTIVITY AT CAMP, JUST MORE OF IT?
No.  It's much more.  Not only will you spend a lot more time playing squash than you would as a regular camper, but you will be working toward higher levels of personal skill and strategy concepts.  It's lot of fun, but remember that this is an active sport.  This specialty option is for campers who want to take their squash seriously.

IS THIS THE ONLY SQUASH ACTIVITY GOING ON AT CAMPUS KIDS?
Definitely not.  Our regular squash activity will be taking place at camp all 8 weeks of the summer and campers who are not part of this specialty program will still have lots of opportunity to play, learn skills and participate in friendly tournaments.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT CAMPUS KIDS AND THE SQUASH SPECIALTY OPTION?
Just give us a call at 973-845-9260 or send an e-mail to CKNewJersey@campuskids.com .
You can also contact Ryan Belline at this e-mail: ryan@campuskids.com .  You can also print out the Squash Specialty Option flyer and sign-up form.

WHAT DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I SIGN UP?
You sign up for camp just like a regular CK-NJ camper, but be sure your enrollment includes the session when we are offering this option (Weeks 1-2).  You should also fill out the Squash Specialty Option sign-up form.  You pay regular camp tuition and that's it.  There is no extra charge for participating in this 2-week specialty.
