As many of you know, Centenary College has been planning for many months now to remove the gymnasium to make way for a brand new one, which will fit college basketball regulations (a plan for the structure of the new gym can be seen here). Campus Kids was allowed 6 weeks of use before it would come down (and even as I type, construction workers are finishing final preparations before a claw-like machine begins to tear away at the structure that many of us hold so dear). But before the gym can be torn down, we had to have one final basketball tournament: The 2006 Campus Kids The Gym is getting torn down soon, so we'd better do this quickly, Division Ocho July Madness Basketball Tournament Spectacular.
After an intense season, two teams remained: the Igloos and the Porcupines.
	An event was made out of this ceremonious and mournful day. Popcorn was distributed...
...and quickly vanished from the wagons it was being distributed from.
	Indeed, most of the camp had shown up for this game, whether it was to watch the match, or get a last glimpse of the gym.


After a fabulous rendition of the national anthem by camper Marlena H. (whose picture we do not have due to web photo complications) the game began.
	Teams had a quick pep-talk before the game.
And as hands went in and the shout of the team name echoed throughout the gym, teams assembled for the tip-off.




Campers were recruited to act as venue workers, doing everything from security...
	...which was needed after Jack ran across the court.
...to the scoreboard, which saw much action.
	And the cheerleading team performed during the halftime show.
But towards the end, the game seemed to go overwhelmingly in favor of the porcupines.
	As the game ended, announcer Dave Heath signaled the last ten seconds, which, when completed, signaled the end of the final game ever to be played in the Centenary College Gymnasium.
Igloos were presented with silver medals.
	Each medal with an inscription on the back: a quote from Bo Jackson saying "Set your goals high and don't stop till you get there."
The porcupines had had their eye on the skillfully crafted trophy the entire game.
	And they accepted it proudly.
