Frequently tournament names are long, verbose sentences whose meanings could surely be summed up in half the words.  This year's wildly popular Ultimate Frisbee tournament took on a new theme: the Campus Kids Exotic Flowers of the World Frisbee Tournament.  This year's final was between Curious Calathea Crotalifera and the Benevolent Bermuda Buttercups (this journalist's team).

Mike and Dave, the tournament's organizers, sat in the commentary booth and introduced the teams.

And the teams ran onto the field.

The crowd was ready to see some ultimate played.

As were the refs.

Now, since I was on the field and coaching for most of the game, I'd like to thank Chloe for the following pictures.  It's been a good year sports-wise for the web photo crew.

In the beginning, The Crotalifera  went up 3-0.  It looked as if the Buttercups, whose theme song "Build Me Up Buttercup" had been lost, were done for.  They made a valiant effort, bringing the score to 4-3 Crotaliferas, but because of time constraints, the game was played to five, and the final score was 5-3 in favor of The Crotalifera.

But as always, it was more about the game than the outcome.

And The Crotalifera were presented with the Lord Lisbe cup.
