An Impromptu Performance
by Lindsey Jacobs

Here at Campus Kids, the activity of "Drums" has always been an exciting and popular one. However, the Freshmen and Sophomores had no clue what was in store for them when they signed up for 3rd period drums.
To start, counselors Gabby and Al gave the 9 campers a quick lesson outside of the Armstrong-Hipkins Performing Arts Center. This way, music could be made and the beautiful weather could be enjoyed.
Campers got to practice all sorts of percussion instruments until they found the one that suited them best.
Everything from tambourines and maracas...

to more unusual instruments like cowbells were sampled.
To start the performance, a beat was built up by the entire group of campers and then every person was featured in a solo!
After some practice and assistance from the counselors, these amazing performers were ready to jam out!
If performing on the patio was not enough, the entire group formed a parade by marching around campus to share their newfound musical talents with all of Blair.
After making it around the bowl, the parade reached it's final stop: the Annie Lounge!
Camp people from all corners of the office ran to the lounge to find the source of the music that filled Annie Hall.

As the impromptu performance concluded, the lounge erupted with applause. All in the office were able to truly experience what can happen in one simple 50 minute period at a magical place like Campus Kids!
