              Just Kidding Sean!

Are you familiar with the "Gong Show"? Does that name ring any bells? (hahah get it?!)

Well for those of you who are not, let me give you a brief explanation. It was a TV show in which amateur performers would show off their talent. If the judges did not find them worthy of their time on stage, they would sound a big "GONG!" and off the performers would go. If they were not "gonged" then they would finish their performance and then get a score ranging between 1 and 10.
Well, because here at Campus Kids we have a lot of unique "talents", we decided to reenact this television show as an evening activity with the Super Seniors.
The judges were ready, and maybe even a little to giddy to Gong their campers. (except for Simon, he put on his "serious judge face".)

There was an act of flexibility!
The first act had interpretive dancing along to Noah's guitar playing.

Some acts of hypnosis! (some said that they were simply following directions, not being hyptnotized!

Teeny was extremely proud to show off her elbow-licking talents.

We had some soul music from the Broadway Show Hairspray! Work it boys!
We had some stand-up comedy, which the judges pointed out that it was ironic because they were sitting down!
We had confusion as to what the act actually was. (they simply stood their, and clapped on different beats and kept repeating "yes this is happening")

These two did the Apache dance! Jump on it! Jump on it!

This was a dedication to Ben who was a previous camper that performed this at the talent show a couple years ago. He told the crowd to move left, then right. He then said "My talent is being able to move a crowd."

Justin Beiber helped the girls dance along to the song...in a bikini?

They performed something called "Tummy Tunes".

Cass performed a fantastic rendition of "Grenade" on the piano.

Rachel Parker then whipped out some Celine Dion, and soon had interpretive dancers join the fun.

These performers (the same ones with the clapping if you can believe it or not) simply stood up, then someone screamed "FETAL POSITION" and they laid down like this!

As the finale, the whole crowd chanted "Russ! Russ!" to encourage him to play the classic "Bennie and the Jets" on piano. Everyone then continued to yell "Sammy! Sammy!" to get his sister up there to sing with him. Kelcy and Zack (two staff assistants) joined!

And like that, the Gong Show was over.

But, lest you think that the judges sat quietly during all of these interesting performances: they went gong-happy!

(after being gonged)

This was a fun evening activity, the campers and counselors enjoyed themselves and laughed with each other.
You can never go wrong with a gong!
