Rainy Days
by Jess Hoffman

Perhaps these drops of rain that are pouring down on us today are foreshadowing of the many tears that will be pouring down our faces on Friday..
BUT ON A HAPPIER NOTE :) :) :)
Campus Kids was able to still have a great day, even with drenched clothes and a lack of sunshine. I'm sure many wonder what happens when the sun ain't shinin' here at camp..well I'll show you!

Today everyone came off the bus in the morning. There were some clouds, but the weather was holding up!
But then as soon as third period was about to start....it was raining, pouring, and I'm sure somewhere an old man was snoring.
Kim ODP gazed out into the distance, saddened by the rain, and waited for everyone to gather in the theater for changeover, so they could get to their activities.

People slowly came in, with wet hair, wet shoes, and well just wet everything!
  Some were prepared..

  While others were not.

Some even seemed to need windshield wipers.

Devon called out the different activities, and people dispersed!
Many of the outdoor had to be switched to indoor, such as Tenniball and Archery moving to Basketball, Golf Skills moved to 4-Square, and Tie-Dying was moved to Set Design. But, it was okay because people had a good time in the new activities too!
Now if you think it's all fun and games, (which it mostly is) then let me show you a little behind the scenes work, which isn't as fun!

Getting packages in the rain.

Having to run all the way to the health office in the rain.

Taking down archery targets in the rain.

And carrying over grids in the rain.

(Luckily Mitch had a good method.)

Lindsey, a fellow roving photographer.
But I must admit, afterwards we did get our own playtime!
Then, after the activities came Announcements which was held in the theater as opposed to under the Announcement Tree.

"If your name is Stu, you can lead the Announcement Song."

And then Jason, a counselor, decided to steal the camera and take lovely pictures of our counselors in all their drenched-from-the-rain glory. As you can tell from some of their expressions, they really appreciated it. (I wasn't going to put these on, but they're just too good!)

After everyone went to lunch and then back to the dorms for bunktime. For Free Swim there were a couple adjustments made due to weather! Here are some pictures from Afternoon Shade that was held indoors:
Snack was held on Insley Porch as opposed to the bowl. No worries, the Ro-Sham-Bo Tournament was still in action.
Besides other minor adjustments for some activities, the day went on just like a normal, awesome, CK day. In the words of Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand, the Broadway show "Funny Girl", Glee, and many other singers that make songs with the same cliché lyrics- we did not let the weather rain on our parade!!
