Space Movie Spoof

SPACE MOVIE SPOOF

The Seniors participated in a funny evening activity last night.   They had the challenge of creating a skit that was spoofing a movie..but not just any movie. To go along with our outer space theme this summer, they had to base their skit off of a movie that had to do with space.
The night started out with Kim as the M.C. First, the seniors were able to view their pictures from the photo scavenger hunt that was put together into a video. Then the spoofs began!

First up was the Zaphod Beeblebros. They based their skit off of the movie, Space Chimps. They had the crowd ooohing and aaahing, as they ooh-ooh-ahh-ahhed! It began with perplexed chimps finding a frisbee and not knowing what to do with it. Then, one bold chimp decided to throw it, and they all went wild! It then fast forwarded to a kid finding a frisbee in later years. Their skit was funny, and they played their characters all the way through, as they went off stage in a monkey-like manner.
Afterwards, the Honeymoons went up. Their spoof was on E.T. One of the campers brought a new friend to camp- E.T.! At first, E.T. was a little lost. He had trouble in things such as tennis, (where he didn't know what to do with the racket) Salsa, (where he kept trying to high-five his partner's hands instead of dance) dinner, (where he ate a stuffed animal banana instead of real food) and gymnastics (where he attempted a forward role, but it didn't quite turn out well). Then after his long day of confusion, it was time for him to "phone home". Unfortunately, he took a little too long, and the counselors had to take away his phone. (who knew that Space had reception?) But, the next day the campers and E.T. participated in a camp fire, where E.T. taught everyone some alien calls. E.T. finally felt comfortable and even received a Campus Kids T-Shirt!

Next up were the Lunar Ladies! They did a spoof based on Wall-E. In it, Wall-E landed in a land where no one had any fashion sense. He soon met up with the love of his life robot- Eve. Together they tried to enlighten the world with beautiful clothing. Unfortunately, the people were not too accepting of this. They even had a little chase around the stage with a red stiletto! In the end, the people finally accepted Wall-E and Eve's ways of fashion!

Following them, the Rockettes took the stage. They explained in the beginning that their movie was Apollo 13, in which the infamous line, "Houston we have a problem." came from. In it, the campers ran up to the counselor, Houston, explaining their problems. Their problems consisted of not being able to bounce a ball, lack of mirrors for makeup, they couldn't call home, hair in the drain, and lost items. Each time, the counselors sent the campers to Staff Assistants who were swinging their keys in the middle of the stage. (not that any staff assistants ever do that haha) The Staff Assistants helped out the campers and of course saved the day! But then, one time, there was a huge problem that the Houstons couldn't fix, nor could the staff assistants! THERE WAS ONLY SPORTS LISTED ON THE SCHEDULE! NOOOO! The skit ended with everyone running off stage screaming the name, "JEREMYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Finally, Rocket Power, performed a spoof based on Men In Black. Instead they called it Men in White! In it, Royce sent them on a special mission to overthrow the aliens who had disguised themselves as camp directors. First they had to take on Stoda (Stu+Yoda). His weapon was....the camera. They overtook him though. Then came Teri. They were able to overthrow her by throwing trash at her! When Jeremy came along, a simple rip of the schedule was all that was needed to rip his heart, and overthrow him. But, then, Tom came along. The Men in White did what they could to fight away Tom, but they could not win. The last words, "Campus Kids Will Prevail", sent off a chilling ending message. (well in this context) But, no worries everyone, our real camp directors are not aliens! (..that we know of) Rocket Power was able to strike up laughter from the audience, which was great.

In the end, once the skits were done, they still had time before Canteen. Of course, the only solution to this gap before Canteen was a dance party..what else. So they moved and grooved, and then headed to Canteen. Thanks to all the Seniors for their great skits!
