Take-Off

Greeting Earthlings! We have come to report on a very special mission that has taken off beautifully. Our Outer Space-themed 21st Campus Kids summer has started today! (Facebook was even ready!)
Loads of preparation has been put into this "mission" to have a fantastic summer! After a week of Staff Orientation and months of campers and staff members dreaming and wishing for camp to come, this day has finally arrived with lots of excitement.
Counselors walked over to the area in which the camper-filled buses would soon greet them. To pass the time they played an intense game of "ninja".

Then, finally, as the first sighting of the front of a Vanderhoof bus occurred, cheers, jumps, and even some cartwheels filled the grassy area.
Campers were greeted by a traditional clap, and met up with their bunk groups and counselors.
  Many reacquainted with old buddies.
Other campers met new friends (which is what camp's all about!)
As bunk groups were collected, they all headed back to their dorms to unpack and personalize their dorm rooms. Throughout the day, the bunk groups went to retrieve brand new 2011 T-Shirts and were given tours of the campus.
They also went to swim-testing and health-screenings.
Everyone sat under the shady tree to hear the first Announcements of the summer, and then headed off to lunch where they chose their activities for the next day while eating a delicious meal. As the day went on, everyone partook in some activities of their choice. They ate dinner, enjoyed clubs, and competed in some fun evening activities too!
After a long and exhilarating day, our campers and staff finally went to sleep to rest for tomorrow.
After Step 1 of this mission, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed. This is going to be an out-of-this-world summer.
And Houston...we do not have any problems!
