How Do I Apply for a Summer Job?

Fill out the online staff application.

Applications are still being accepted for the 2008 summer camp season.
(updated 5/9/08)

Counselors
. . . the heart of our staff.  Counselors "wear two hats" -- they are both bunk counselors and activity specialists.  As bunk counselors, two or three co-workers live with their camp "family" of 8-12 boys or girls, providing support, guidance and supervision in the bunk, at meals and during all-camp activities.  Each camper's bunk counselors help him/her choose activities each day for the next day.  As activity specialists or assistants, counselors spend the activity periods teaching and leading the activities suited to their talents and interests (sports, fine arts, aquatics, performing arts, adventure, etc.).  Counselors have a tremendous amount of responsibility.  There are no assistant or junior counselors.  Each counselor receives excellent, personal support from his/her division leader and activity coordinator.  There are still some counselor positions available for 2008.

Division Leaders
Division leaders support and supervise staff in their roles as bunk counselors.  Each division leader works with one age division (4-7 bunk groups).  They provide overall leadership for the division.  They insure that the individual needs of every child are being met.   They communicate with campers' parents as needed.  As a team, division leaders coordinate evening programs and other all-camp activities.  There are 4-6 division leaders at each of our camps; called "group leaders" at our CT camp, "village coordinators" at our NY camp and "head counselors" at our NJ camp.  One position for a female "village coordinator" and one for a male "village coordinator" are available for 2008 at our NY camp.

Activity Coordinators
Activity coordinators support and supervise the staff in their roles as activity counselors and help insure instructional continuity for campers.  There is an activity coordinator for each of the following areas: aquatics (W.S.I. required), athletics, fine arts, performing arts, day trips/overnight camping, nature, adventure courses (high ropes, climbing wall, zip lines).  Strong knowledge of the particular activities is required as well as knowing how to teach these activities in a supportive, non-competitive environment, and being able to support and facilitate counselors in their roles as activity leaders.  Our NY camp has an opening for an activity coordinator in the arts (crafts, ceramics, woodworking, photography, etc.).  At our CT camp, there is an opening for a coordinator of campouts (must be 21+).

Assistant Director
The assistant director works closely with the head counselors or village coordinators to insure the smooth daily operation of the camp and to be sure that the individual needs of every camper are met.  These positions are filled for 2008.

Program Director
No two days are alike at Campus Kids because the campers individually choose their activities daily.  The Program Director coordinates this unique and highly individualized "camper choice" system and provides support for the activity coordinators.  "Programmers" provide logistical support to the program directors.  We have a position available at our CT camp for a program activity scheduler.

Operations Director
At our Minisink (NY) camp only.  Provides overall administrative support for transportation, food service, maintenance, camp store.  This position is filled for 2008.

Nurses
R.N. required for head nurse; R.N., L.P.N. or E.M.T. required for assistant nurse.  Carry out the camp health plan, operate the camp health center, administer medications, manage medical emergencies.  Doctor, ambulance and hospital are a few minutes from camp.  Fulltime R.N. position available at our NY camp.

Office Staff
An office manager and assistants handle administrative functions, communications, transportation logistics, purchasing, etc.  The camp office is the communications-administrative hub of camp.  One position available for 2008 at our NY camp.

Drivers
Appropriately licensed, 21 or older with clean driving records, to drive vans:
NJ Camp: These positions are filled for 2008.
NY Camp: These positions are filled for 2008.
CT Camp: These positions are filled for 2008.

Food Service, Housekeeping, Maintenance & Security
